Academic360 - Start your search for a job in academia with this comprehensive site. You'll find faculty and staff positions sorted by geographic location or by job function. The links take you to the job page at the institution.

America's Career - Net Looking for more than just a job. Research the current trends in a particular industry, find the average wage for an occupation, and then check out the job openings. The database of employers is fairly large, but the job listings are minimal.

America's Job Bank - Employers have over 2 million available job seekers to search from and job hunters have over 1 million postings to browse. Almost like having money in the bank.

BestJobs USA - Job search engine but with slim pickings. A category search of creative arts/media turned up 31 jobs, many too old to go for. IT jobs were more current and plentiful.

BrassRing - If you're a techie looking to grab the brass ring, you'll love this site. Thousands of articles to help you advance your skills and career search and thousands of job listings to get you where you want to be.

Canada Job Bank - Its hard to find a job when you use this site. Searches are lengthy and require typing a job title, and selecting a region and job description. After looking through four or five pages, you're given just few hits. We know the Canadian job market can't be that bad given the low unemployement in the U.S.

CareerBuilder - Find your dream job with over 50 sites and 3 million postings here Search by job type, region or keyword, or put in all three to narrow your search.

Career City - Designed for technical and professional job seekers, this job site has a relatively smaller number of job categories to choose from. Those in the targeted fields will have plenty of results to choose from, but you抣l have to compete with the 2.5 million others searching the site every month.

Career.com - If you intend to send resumes to a huge number of employers, you might skip this site. Although this site has the standard search functions and the right intent, it's marred by its small database of jobs. The list of featured employers does have some interesting information.

CareerJournal - Executive job search site, updated twice weekly. Results include company information as well as detailed job descriptions.

CareerMosaic - Simple job search site. Has plenty of job listings, though it will take you a few minutes to figure out what keywords to use in your search.

CareerPath - A hidden gem for finding work! Type in a keyword and this site searches newspapers nationwide to find the classified listsings.

CareerShop - Search over 40 job sites with this search engine designed for the Computer Generation.Tailor your searches using the detailed category listing to create targeted lists. Some companies even have videos online.

CareerSite - The standard job board functions are in place at this site, and the results are plentiful, but you might have to wade through irrleveant hits if you use the category option. Too many categories are serving double duty with others, making it difficult to weed out jobs. Keywords are a must at this site.

CNet Wealth Meter - See what the CEOs are making and how much their wealth increased or decreased today. The day we c hecked Daniel Smith was up a measly 141 million and Larry Ellison was down 1,491 million leaving him with only a net worth of 45 billion. Don't forget to hit the "more ceos" link at the bottom of the page for an alphabetical listing of the net worth of most major ceos.

Company Profiles - Get inside job hunting information on 300 companies. Find out what people who work there say about culture, professional advancement, compensation, and business excellence. Great information. Now if they would just expand it to cover 3,000 companies.

ComputerJobs - Technical job postings, over 66,000. Browse by location or job type, or you can use the search engine. While you抮e at it, you might to enter your profile and have the jobs matched to you.

Developers.net - A haven for developers. This site contains hundreds of thousands of jobs for developers of all kinds including Unix, Java, Windows, Linux and more. For the jack-of-all-trades, use the job search function to search by region.

Dice - Boasts over 195,000 high-tech jobs in the computer industry. We searched Java and got over 38,000 jobs. If you work in the internet world this is a great site to include in your job search.

Ecomp - Executive compensation database. Search by company name or ticker to see how much dough top executives are raking in. Great idea for juicy information, unfortunately marred by limited database and clumsy interface.

Elance - Freelance project directory. Whether you're looking for work or have a project to post for people to bid on, this site invites competitive pricing. Like any of these sites, its usefulness depends on how many jobs are posted and how many freelancers frequent the site. Currently only a handful of projects in common categories.

Flipdog - For the job hound. This puppy sniffs out job openings directly from employers' Web sites. Well over a half million jobs currently listed.

FreeAgent - If you're looking to break free of the office walls, you might find a contract gig here. Find projects by selecting a category from the drop-down menu. We noticed that the categories are limited, leaving you to search through many categories to find specific jobs that are difficult to categorize. The listings are also skimpy, but the site does have promise.

Freeality Job Search - A virtual marketplace of job search engines. The only hitch is that you have to search them all individually.

Guru - Need a guru to help with a project? Over 320,000 gurus of all kinds have registered with this site. You can find their qualifications and their costs. You can also post a project you抎 like help with. Great idea, but get your credit card ready if you actually want to use it.

HeadHunter - Search over a quarter million job listings at Headhunter. You'll need to register to apply for jobs you find.

Helping Org - Search for volunteering opportunities by zipcode or category.

Hire-Ed - Search the ivory towers for faculty, staff and research positions. Althought the job posting section is small, the site has over 1,400 links to job pages at universities nationwide.

Hoovers Job Search - Search over 50 online job sites by region, category and keyword. The results are plentiful, but since a keyword is required, the listings don't overwhelm. When you've got a job offer, hop back over to Hoover's to get the scoop on your potential employer.

HotJobs - Easy to navigate job site. Just select your "career channel" and search for a job.

Intern Web - Looking for a way to spend your summer? How about an internship? Search this database to find intern opportunities around the country. The database is very small, so you might be left to check out the postings in your college's paper.

Job Options - Find a job in Canada or the US. The site contains some of the same features as others, but the database is lacking.

Job-Search-Engine - North American job postings at your fingertips! This site searches the top US and Canadian job boards to help you find the perfect job. Key in a job, choose a location and watch your future begin.

Job Searching Resources - Get all the help you can get with this job hunting database. You抣l find links to job banks and job-searching information and tips. A great resource for the new college grad.

Jobs.com - Job search site. We had trouble getting this site to go to work, but maybe you'll have better luck.

JobSleuth - Let JobSleuth search for a job and e-mail you the results everyday. Or, view jobs right away by choosing a location and category and typing in keywords.

JobSmart - Get some facts before jockeying for that big raise. Access salary information from this site. You can find salaries by occupation, or search special topics such as women's salaries. Links to over 300 online salary surveys.

Labor Dept. Occupation Outlook - Find just about any occupation and its expected growth, present and expected salary, and its educational requirements.

LawEnforcementJob - A job site for America's finest. Find job opportunities in over 3,500 municipal police, state police and patrol, sheriff, federal,international,corrections, university and college departments by selecting an agency and location.

Maximum Edge Job Search - Workaholics will delight in this engine that searches the big job boards: Monster.com, Hot Jobs, and CareerMosaic. We found the listings to download very slowly, so you might want to grab some work to do while you wait.

Monster Board - One of the first and best sites for finding a job online. 400,000 jobs, searchable by category and keyword. And don't waste time scouring individual sites for jobs. This monster does it for you. Simply register to have jobs dropped in your e-mail box daily.

NationJob - Look for jobs here. Site navigation requires numerous page clickthroughs.

Net-Temps - Temporary and full-time contract jobs can be found here. Not the largest jobs database but one of the few dedicated to temp work.

Salary Calculator - How does your city rate in cost of living? You can compare two different, major cities anywhere in the United States. The calculator tells you what you need to make to live in a chosen city.

Salary Wizard - Find out what you're worth! Enter your job and zipcode and Salary Wizard calculates your salary based on its proprietary database. If its accurate, a raise may be in order!

Schedule Earth - Need a little professional development? Search this database of personal and professional development events, which include classes and conferences. The site is a bit cluttered, but fairly easy to use. If possible, browse the categories. Keyword searches do turn up some irrelevant results.

Searchgate - Academic, student and career orientated resources, over 600,000. Primarily pertaining to the UK. Search categories or by keyword in either the open directory, or the smaller and more specialized student directory.

Searchhoo - Use this job search engine to find local or specialized listings which may not be covered by the big job search engines. We searched for our town and find all sorts of local governement and other listings. We recommed you don't stop at the first few results but look through the first couple pages of listings.

TalentFinder - Got a job you can't fill? Need someone with special talent? Search this site of independent contractors of every make and model. If you抮e an independent contractor, register to make yourself available to companies shopping for talent.

Vault - Your career partner. When we checked, this site had 182,584 jobs listed by 40,669 employers. And before you join the team at one of these companies, search the profiles and find out what the employees have to say.

Virtual Intern - For companies looking for interns and students looking for internships in any job field. Use your summer, January term, or semester off to get some job experience.

WageWeb - Salary benchmarks. See what the norms are for 170 jobs. The tables are tedious to read, but the information could help you know what you're worth when you make your next career move.

WantedJobs - This job meta search will comb the help wanted boards in search of your perfect job. You'll have to click through pages of not-so-reputable postings to pick legitimate jobs out of the rubble.
